Matt ran the big numbers again, here are the sides to watch given his highly mathematical and objective algorithmic projections.
Clemson -11 over Maryland – no cross country trip for a Terrapin opponent this week (Cal upset). After the Alabama beatdown in Week One, Clemson recommitted to the ground game and looks much more like an ACC champ.
OhioSt -19.5 over Minnesota – Minnesota defense is in my top quartile, but they haven’t seen a force like Tyrelle Pryor and a healthy Beanie Wells.
New Mexico St +130 and +3 over New Mexico - using the Huss Hedge is recommended here. The Aggies are a bit of an unknown since they have only played twice, and this is where the quantitative strategies that Matt employs become super-useful. NM State was a +210 “gut-shot” winner for me last week at UTEP, this weekend they host an in-state rival who is overvalued with a win over Pac 10 contender (isn’t everyone?) Arizona.

So here we are in Week 4 of the NFL season. After watching a few weeks, one might say things are starting to take shape. So giving the lines a one over from the favorite , a few games deserve a second look.
DENVER -10 @ K.C. (O/U 42)
Denver looks for real this year. Granted, they did get a few calls in their favor in the first few weeks, but still they look good !! Really good ! I am an Oakland fan, so to say the donkeys looks good hurts. But it is the truth.
Double digit spreads can sometimes be a little much, however, it’s the Chiefs. In a division , a long , long time ago, to play in Arrowhead was a death sentence. Now, it’s more like a vacation destination. The Raiders won in KC. Denvers’ high powered offense is among the top in the league. Cutler is playing better than most people thought he ever would.

Matt Ryan turned on the Rayovac Cray supercomputer tonight that he has rigged up to perform Monte Carlo Analysis on every college football matchup for the season.
Interestingly, the first thing that happened when the vacuum tubes fired up at 1pm is the stock market went up 400 points and a War Games like voice said “If the market gives you Lehman, make Lehman-ade”.
Totals later this week, but here are the lines that the Matt-2000 spit out as most mispriced (Army to win? Check that SCSI drive array…)

There are times when being contrarian is best for your results. Majorities are often correct (see crowdsourcing), but cultural consensus is often wrong (see NY Giants versus Patriots in the SB41).
You have heard these items all weke long:
With Beanie Wells declared out by Coach Jim Tressel, Ohio State has no chance of beating the Trojans in the “Collision at the Colosseum”. Buckeyes barely beat Ohio Bobcats last week. Terrelle Pryor is a better QB than Todd Boeckman. Southern Cal is unstoppable again.
The consensus is all over USC, so there is value in Ohio State getting points regardless if they win or not. You feeling me?
Mark Sanchez has only five starts. Vidal Hazelton is injured, and USC has yet to identify one athlete on whom to lean when things get tough.
Throw a little towards the Buckeyes today.

Ladies and Gentlemen, children of all ages, the Guru has returned from his month long look at the God-awful ACC and the overmatched Big Ten Conference and he has a surprise for all Forum readers this season.
To all my fantasy football and college pigskin enthusiasts, this season I will be authoring some commentary and handicapping for nationally televised as well as very random, off the radar weekly college football match-ups.
First, from the off the beaten path to the nearest directional college please…yes, at the bottom of most readers newspapers of choice (in the section where you will find the “lines”) you will see that the Maryland Terrapins, winners of a 14-7 thriller of 1-AA runner up Delaware, are a 13 point favorite over my favorite ESPN Thursday night team ever, Middle Tennessee State. After watching the majority of the Terps uneven offensive display, lead by Jordan Steffy, I cannot help but ask myself how on earth can the Terps lay nearly two touchdowns to anyone, ON THE ROAD no less. And this is exactly why you will see them dominate the Blue Raiders on both sides of the ball this weekend.
Keys to the game: Contain QB: Dwight Dasher (dual threat) and the Terps should post a 27-10 style win. I hate laying pts on the road but this looks like a “wise guy pick” as my buddy from AZ, the Swami likes to call lines like this.
Second, from the land of Happiness,
